View Full Version : That time of year

It is the good old "open enrollment" time of year for most
of us. I just heard today that they have totally revamped
our benefits to "consumer directed healthcare" and priced
the other plans through the roof (30% - 50% increases).

Anyone out there experiencing this?

I'm online now to do my benefit elections and just don't feel
comfortable with the consumer directed plan. Do any of you
have one of those through work? Good? Bad?

What? Over 30 views and no responses? Do none of you
people have health insurance?

Oh wait, nobody gives a shit about this topic. I get it.
Yeah, it is boring. Ok let me change it up a bit.....

Health insurance, um, insurance, er, well, uh.

Insurance : sick : doctor : exam : undress

There we go. How many of you played "doctor" when you
were a kid? I have heard stories that is how some kids first
saw the naughty bits of others, especially the opposite sex.

When was the first time you saw the bits of the opposite sex?

My earliest memory of it was with my cousin and we did the
whole I'll-show-you-mine-if-you-show-me-yours thing. I think
I was about 5.

As for health insurance - we have a choice of health insurance or no health insurance. There are no plan options.

As for playing doctor - much like now, I always talked about playing it more than actually playing it.

I don't recall ever playing doctor. At least not in a way that led to the viewing of naughty bits. I did have a stethoscope I used to listen to everything. Mostly I used it to try to crack my brother's safe as I had seen done in movies. It didn't work. Not a big surprise since I didn't know what I was listening for.

In first grade, there was a game of "Show me yours and I'll show you mine" that was quite popular for a time, that time being until the teacher caught a student showing his dick under the desk. I never participated but I certainly did see a lot. I would tell a fellow deviant I would participate, make the other person go first and then back out.

I have excellent health insurance through my gf's company. Our plan is one of the best and I never get shit about benefits or coverage due to being a domestic partner or 'pre-existing conditions', which is nice. I used to have to pay for personal health insurance and it got to be so expensive. I would be screwed if I had to now.

I don't remember if I played doctor or not.

My insurance is going up. This year I paid $49.32 per month, next year it's going to be $59.34. Add in the legal insurance I opted for, and it's going to be $64 and some change.

Holy crap- I was paying $200 a month a couple years ago. And no, I don't have a pre-existing quadruple bipass issue or something.

SplashingWater

you so don't even want to know what I have to pay because the insurance industry thinks bipolar people are the biggest risk to their solvency.

(just got lowered to $795/mo)

Holy christ.

I currently pay $18/mo for the best insurance coverage I've ever had.

And I played doctor all the time as a kid. I had a goal to spend as much naked time with people as possible. Even our games of classroom ended in nudity somehow. What can I say?

Wow. I pay about $110 a month for complete coverage for both me and my son. That's medical, dental and vision. Of course, that'll change in January and I'll be paying about 3 times that amount.

But, I'm sure glad I've got insurance otherwise my recent visit to the emergency room would have set me back about a $1,000! Crazy.

The only thing I have to pay is $20 a month for sprouts dental and I haven't even had to do that yet because her first check-up was done through medicaide and being overseas dependents don't pay anything for medical/dental so she isn't "enrolled" in a dental plan yet.

I pay $100/mo for shitty coverage. Honestly, I would probably pay less if I paid full cost for dental, eye exams, glasses, etc. It would be unlikely that I would pay more than $1200 per year in medical expenses. Except this first year. I'm taking them to the bank. Eye exams, new glasses, dental. If I'm lucky I'll need a root canal and a crown! I might even get antibiotics just for the hell of it.

There was a huge oxytocin bust a few weeks ago in Cape Breton. But it was all fake. The street value for fake oxytocin is apparently the same as the real stuff.

Yes, this is the place of my birth.

I'll punch you in the mouth AND the eye for $500.

You know, just to help you out.

Hell, ask me nicely and I'll probably do it for free.

good fucking grief. You kids today with your drugs.

When I was in nursing school Oxytocin was used to induce labor. WTF would someone want to reproduce that feeling for? In my day we took drugs that made us feel good...not drugs that made our uteruses contract.

jeeze.

And kind of a Canuckophile. It's been a while, but I have been to Halifax a couple times (very expensive booty call... a story for another day) and across PEI. Never to Cape Breton, though. I would love to see it someday.

Our company sent a memo in which employees are asked to exchange time off for a 2% reduction in salary, beginning in the new year. It is strictly voluntary, and thankfully my department is not included.

I think I pay about $200 per month for HMO, dental, vision and legal for myself and my "other qualified adult." In addition I pay taxes on the additional $500 my employer is paying toward my partner's coverage.
