I went to the German version of Home Depot and bought a planter box for my patio. Me and the sprout picked out some pretty Petunias, impations, daliahs, and cape marigold... i put in the planter but had a question about them...

most of them when I pulled them out of their little "jail cells", as I like to think of them, their roots were all over the place, winding here and there all over the place.
I didn't know what to do with them. i know I'm supposed to break up the soil so it mixes with the new soil but I'm worried about the roots.
I didn't receive my mom's green thumb magic so I'm kinda learning as I go.

Just gently work your fingers into their roots. If some of them break it's really no big deal. Breaking up that clump will let them grow better and make new roots anyway! Also, it's good to make sure the top of the soil they came in is covered with the soil you're planting them into. Good luck!
