Here's a question - do any of you have a great cereal that you eat that gives you lots of energy pre-workout? I eat Vector but i sometimes wonder if it has more calories that i might like. Anyone have a more dense cereal that they swear by?

I'm all about Nature's Path oatmeal. I only eat original and apple cinnamon. I almost always down a serving an hour before I go lift.

I've heard other people talk about Go Lean...they make one cereal that has little soy protein nuggets in it.

Fruit Loops.
hmmmm - perhaps that is the problem, huh?
I'll switch next week. To Captain Crunch and see how that works out for me.

I eat a Luna bar about 45 minutes before I work out, but then again, I'm not hard core. I'm rather plump, actually, but that's changing!!!!

I've been eating Go Lean Crunch and it's pretty good. A friend gave it to me
as a joke because it has broccoli extract and I hate broccoli. But thank goodness
you can't taste it. It's certainly no Captain Crunch, but it'll do.

The thought of broccoli in breakfast cereal really turns me off...

I'm currently in loo-oove with broccoli (like, for dinner every day), and knowing it's in Kashi makes me want to buy some just for that reason.

I love broccoli too and eat it for my vegetable many nights but still...I don't want it in my cereal.
Marshmallows go in cereal not vegetables!

No, no, no. It's not actually broccoli in the cereal.
It's just some broccoli extract, you don't even know it's there.
And I told you wrong, it's Vive Crunch, not Go Lean Crunch.
Both are Kashi.

Maybe they could put broccoli marshmallows in the cereal?

:-X
I never liked cereal with marshmallows as a kid. The ones they
put in cereal were like little nuggets, kind of crunchy, not gooey
and soft like a marshmallow SHOULD be.
Oh I just thought of Apple Jacks. Man I loved that cereal. My
grandfather would hide a box and just he and I would get up
really early and eat it together without my grandmother knowing
because she would have never let me eat that. A proper healthy
breakfast on the farm was eggs and bacon ! heh

Oh, I loved Apple Jacks. And I never liked cereal with marshmallows, either.

That was exactly why I liked them. They were crunchy and sweet! I was never a huge fan of real marshmallows.

My grandpa and I used to eat Lucky Charms together. He had a box hidden in the cupboard because my grandma would have freaked to know he was eating a "kid's cereal". When I would stay with him at the river we would get up very early to go fishing. So, of course Grandma wasn't up yet. That meant I got to have Lucky Charms for breakfast (Something my parents didn't let me eat either) AND ice cream! My grandfather figured ice cream was milk so it had to be sort of healthy.
Kind of similar to his reasoning on beer and how it's just like liquid bread so it has to be kind of healthy.

Lucky Charms are the devil. I did always love peanut butter Captain Crunch. But, man did it tear up the roof of my mouth.

Our love is dead.

Why? You can have all the Lucky Charms. You don't have to share! Wheeeee.

I think it's the principle, Misch. Anyone who cannot appreciate something so magically delicious has no soul.
Lep wants me to tell you that your box of sex toys is on the front porch and you need to come get them promptly. Oh, and the gay male porn is in the mailbox. She thought that was funny for some reason. Don't forget to grab that too, k?

How about using protein powder instead of milk - any takers? I gave it a try due to milk storage problems and it's not really bad. Kind of good, actually.

Isn't it too watery?

I used a pretty hearty granola (hi-protein "back to nature" so that helped - also - the thickness can be adjusted by how much water you mix with the powder. I have some banana flavored powder that I'm going to try - that should be better than the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor I went with for the original experiment.
And - This would be a good thing for camping / backpacking when having milk handy is not easy.
