If you were given $10,000 and told you had ONE DAY in which to spend it - what you you buy?
What if it was $100,000?
What if it was $100?

10,000 - no more student loan
100,000 - invest part, go back to school
$100 - hmm...probably buy clothes or there is this cool leather bracelet I want so maybe I'd splurge on that: http://www.redmonkeydesigns.com/store/product_info.php?cPath (http://www.redmonkeydesigns.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=22_39&products_id=93) =22_39&products_id=93

10000 - put it towards our debt
100000 - pay off our debt, get a couple o' babies, invest the rest
100 - go on a nice date

How come neither of us would put the $100 towards our debt?
Why is it that $100 just seems like mad money instead of a legitimate amount to pay down debt?
Just found that interesting...

$10,000: Put toward debt.
$100,000: Pay of my student loan and fix up my house and pay the rest left toward what i owe on my house.
$100: Put it toward a house project probably.
Oh, I meant to add that $100 seems like such a tiny drop in the bucket next to the debt. It feels like you get more bang for that amount by doing something that you can immediately (or relatively soon anyway) appreciate.

I think that is the rut people fall into and why debt isn't paid down more quickly.
An extra ten bucks? Pfft...that's nothing...I'll spend it on beer.
But it all adds up over time. I always try to think of dollar amounts in yearly sums. It makes a bigger impression on me.
